TODAY'S TRIVIA

An avid soccer follower, that i am,have decided to put in tid-bits of soccer trivia amongst others everyday
TODAY'S TRIVIA:
We all know Paolo Rossi, the incredible man who changed from zero to hero in a single tounnament, helping Italy to win their third world cup is the only person in the world to grab all four of football's top honours in the yr 1982...

1.Golden Boot
2.Golden Ball
3.World playr of the yr
4.European Player of the yr

Penalty shootouts were introduced in the world cups for the first time in 1978,and it had to w8 for 4 more yrs to eliminate someone...and the someone was France, who went down against Germany,in an Epic-semi final against West Germany....

AKKARE YAKKARE YAKKARE

My dad has always been a constant patron of Malayalam and Bengali movies...he always used to say,our tamil cinema industry has a lot to learn from these cine industriews by way of stories and screenplays..for he always beleived technically Tamil
cine industry was superior to all other southern based cine industry...
So there i was, geared up to witness wat the Mallloos had to offer me...until then, they didnt offer me anythiing but terrible boredom,an experience equal to watching a STRIP TEASE(NELS_N r u reading this) and not to mention the cd of this movie!!!
i had a choice to make,my first maloo one wud be either of chitram(a supposedly emotional one) and Akkare...(a comedy one)...i chose the latter, and i really wanted to discover wat cud be the thing that forms the bedrock of malloo humour(which is often dry(by dry i mean it is "as dry as THE SAHARAS in the summers")
This movie is suppposed to be a sequel to a movie(PATTANA PRAVESHAM)...havin seen the Tamil version of this movie(KADHANAAYAGAN starring Pandiarajan and S Ve Shekhar) many times,i went into this movie with high hopes...
This movie starts with a crown getting stolen at the Madras Musuem, and The commisioner of police(dunno his name but i rem seein him many tyms in Asianet) gets the Pathbreaking clue that mite solve the case, that it was stolen by a Paul Barber(ya u heard it right) and he has left to the U S and all they have of him is a torn piece of cloth from his shirt and his bloodstains in the fence...they say it has cast a scar on his back.meanwhile the crown somehow makes it way to a house(coincidentally a maloo) in NY while someone tried to steal it from Barber himself...
so the commisioner of police(who accidently is a Maloo) turns to the gr8est CID combo in India Ramadass(Mohan LAL) and Vijayan(Srinivaasan!! unarguably the best actor in the movie) who also are maloos(wat a maloo bias)!!!so they start invading ur stomach rite frm their intro scene..initially while being presented the matter Ramadas does not want vijayan to accompany him but he later succumbs to the oldest trick in the deceiver's manual!!!(the tactic..my gaaad!! got me stifled and strangled for want of air..i cant but continue laughing...(the "adikum".."sahikum" dialogues i meant))..
so they leave to America and are suposed meet with an Indian Embassy official(Malloo again) to get themselves accomodated and for the finances(5 lac indian rupees)...
there they decide that they have done enough justice to their job and it s tym to enjoy life...so they spend the 5 lacs...meanwhile the commisioner of police gets himself screwed for sending these dumbos to america and makin the government to incur a loss of 5 lacs..so he ispoised to kill duo...at precisely the same tym,a deadly misconception and misinterpration makes the CID s to think the Embassy guy is paul barber....their vain attemts to prove it rite..(the one especially as negroes,my god!!!that was just toooo good!!)in comedy movies, there is prone to be a whole lot of misinterprations and the villain thinks another diff mallo pair as CIDs and runs from them...so after all this mess, the CID duo get the crown finaaly....how??!! tahts for u to figure out...
the movie s screenplay is good and Srinivasan is my best actor in the movie....y are the villains in comedy movies always stoopid??i wonder and the the confusion in airport, man that was a little boring and i feel the first part (pattana..) one is better...anywayzz,that was a superb experience...
After i was finshed with the movie, there was a sense of disappointment, not because of the movie but because of the fact that i cudnt quite comprehend wat formed the bedrock maloo humour, even after watching the movie...
cheers ppl!!

FIFA 2007

"EA SPORTS" It s in a game....
The above sounds wud be music to ur ears,if ur about to play one of ur eagerly awaited EA sports games....
As Soccer is my favourite sport, there can only be little doubt in which one wud be my favourite EA sports game...It has always been the FIFA series...although,they tried with their games of UEFA champions leagues and World Cups,i always kept myself away from them...
the moment,AUDI(one of my juniors) let his mouth go saying that he has got the game s dvd,i cant but not wait to start...i got the disc and i installed the game and started playing the game right away...!!!!before going into this game,AUDI warned me abt the toughness of the game and in his words the game "SUCKED"...but never have i left a version of FIFA untried(wonder if theres a word like this) since FIFA '99...so i wud try this,no matter what i thought...
The game started without even the slightest hitch(phew!!!,the biggest head ache in the world)....so here the Architecture is very similar to FIFA 06...ur asked to create ur own profile and u ll get points based on ur perfomance it says...
more points means more stuff can unlocked...
so a profile created and there i was about to start my first game...in every version of FIFA(xcept 99) that i ve played, the first match neva changed..
MANCHESTER UNITED vs ARSENAl..
and so it was,i was on MAN U 's side and the default difficulty level was semi-pro...the match ended 3-2 in favour of the red devils....i feel the graphics of 06 is better than the present version of FIFA,given that i always run FIFA games in my comp on low graphics mode...The gameplay has become real tough, now with the limited no of keys ur expected to control ball spin also, even while crossing,so it is real tough...the ball does not reach the header if u cross,as soon as u croos the control is transferred to the nearest player to the ball, and he has to fight it out with the defender to score, this was the toughest part for me....
player likeliness, squads and ratings(ITALY,CLASSIC XI and WORLD XI r the only teams with 5 star ratings),r really similar to that of FIFA 06...the gameplay is a bit slow which makes it more realistic(this is smthing that i really like) and ....
so AUDI i am sorry, the game doesnt suck in my view,it is equal to if not better than its earlier version....
k thats it for now...i gotta play penalty shootouts with raj...
cheers

HYDERABAD BLUES!!!

Another long term wish came true....This movie has been evading me,ever since i wanted to watch this movie...finally,i procured the movie without much difiiculty, and i played the movie rite away!!!....
I ve always been attracted by Desi movies made in English....but i never really got to see many(like dere are a lot)...from wat i heard Mr and Mrs Iyer by rahul bos e and the hyderabad blues were rated the best ones...having seen the first one...i really was looking fwd to this one..this one didnt disappoint even by a bit....
The story now..
Varun(Nagesh Kukunoor) is returning back to his hometown(HYD) from the states after a long period of 12 yrs....he is 28 yrs old and his parents want him to get married,as he s ageing....one of his frnds(harish) is married and the other one(Sanjeev) is abut to get married...but Varun doesnt seem to be really interested about the Indian way of marraiges, and also starts to sound like a sceptic who was born to find faults wid the indian system..it starts from the no of calories in food to choosin a girl 2 marry...(i guess ppl who live away from home, get affected by this syndrome, when going back home...)
He accompanies Sanjeev who is on the lookout for his life partner,to the traditional bride seeing day..(only god knows if it has a word in english!!)
there he gets really curious about a female, who comes and serves tea and happens to be a close frnd of the bride and a doctor,by profession....
Sanjeev gets married and after that Varun is introduced to that female named Ashwini, only to find out that she is an all out hater of americanisation....slowly they fall in love woth each other and caste takes the form of the villain keeping the m from gettin married, meanwhile his mom has many a unsuccesful effort to pin him up wid some girl or other...so as u might guess, they eventualy get married but how..that s for u to see...
i personaly felt the climax was really weak and lacked in logic in comparison with the other parts of the movie, which were really a reflection of the intricacies of the Indian lyf,and wat Americanization can do to u...
It was an excellent experience ,a diff one perhaps...i kno a bucketfull of movies which used the same concept of "the operator AMERICANIZATION on INDIAN CULTURE CURRY"...wat those movie didnt potray or show well, this movie has explicitly pointed out, important one being
the adjective "Working in a America" is no longer enough to woo girls in India, for they r more bonded to culture than anything else...
KUDOS NAGESH KUKONOOR..
