The Trio, Invincibility reality...

Today , i woke up to the news that the deal between Man U and Bayern Munich for signing Owen Hargreaves is complete and that Owen will join the devils on Jul 1. Considering that i am a Man U fan, this is good news . This officially marks the end of a year long tussle between the reds, whose desperation to sign was an open secret and the germans, who for so long would not let him go at any cost. After whiling most part of the season on the injured list he could do no good to the chances of Bayern , who for the first time in a decade did not qualify for the Champions league. This neccessiated a major shuffle of the team ,which has currently taken the form of an exodus of players. As a consequence Bayern decided to dispense with Owen by getting the best deal out of the whole situation. If you except the fact that he has not put pen on paper, you can consider him as a red devil.Welcome Owen!, to what is, in my view, the greatest club in the world. I hope u ll enjoy greater successes at the Theatre of Dreams.

If you think this is all about this post, u are wrong. Man U have also agreed "in principle" a deal for Porto's Anderson and Sp.Lisbons Nani, who has been touted as the next Ronaldo. I checked the videos concerning these two on youtube. I could infer that both of them as wingers can potentially replace Giggs. There dribbling was a shade above excellent and their speed and passing will add a new dimension to United's game. Alongside Ronaldo, if they strike a good partnership, then mark my words, Man U will become incvincible. Welcome home boys!!.
I am really looking forward to see how the season is gonna pan out.

Let me examine how important and consequential are these three siginings in satisfying todays needs of Manchester United. Owen can and will be seen as a replacement for Paul Scholes. His passing is equal to, if not better than Scholes but lacks in vision as compared to the guy who he is supposed to replace. He also has this aptitude to convert defense into attack at precisely any given moment and he can also play as a defender and his pace can be very handy during counters.Having said this, he does not give that extra thing that scholes gives to the team , the ability to lurk forward and score goals. Except for the pace part,Carrick is more like hargreaves. And scholes if made to sit out will create a vaccum in todays Man U team. So they need to re invent themselves and play like they played with a keane, butt, beckham, giggs midfield.Scholes can be added for that extra aggression,if need be.

Say i become devoid of football for the next month and no transfer news reaches me. I come back to football and someone says that Man U have spent 47 million in all on transfers this summer. I d be led to beleive that there would be a striker(like ruud) worth at least 6 million.
But just by the look of things it appears no striker would feature in this years purchases and it also appears that Man Utd are content with Rooney,Saha,Solskjaer and Smith. Rooney has nowadays started playing like Keane.Giving more importance to his tackles than his finishing skills. Saha is either injured or out of form in 340 of the 365 days in an year.On other days he is fine.Smith s finishing has detiorated after his career threatening injury and Solskjaer is too old to start. In this situation Man U need a striker otherwise scoring goals could always be a problem.
So instead of buying two prodigal wingers, i d say buy a striker(Huntelaar, preferably) and a winger(Nani or Ribery). But who knows wat the great scot has in mind.Lets wait and watch!

Unemployement a thing of the past????

Bangalore
18th May, 2020.

Winfosysh Technologies, India's highest software exporter has now gone a step ahead in the recruiting process by recruiting 25000 students, who have just cleared their Higher secondary examinations."This is part of our long term strategy to make Winfosysh self-sustaining,so far as the software needs are concerned..",Mr.Thanigaivelu,the CTO of Winfosysh was quoted as saying.

Mr.Thanigaivelu,a mining Engineer who graduated from Govinda Institute of Technology,Chennai is really wary about the future of Winfosysh, should they continue with their massive recruitment process of snatching engineers by the lacks across every engineering college in India.

"The quality of engineering students is going down by the year and this strategy(the engg recruitment one) required serious brooding as it could have had a very negative impact on our acheiving of our long term goals which is securing atleast two foreign contracts a year.Hence we decided to supplement the workforce with "more" fresher brains.",he said.

This decision has resulted in many a smiling face across the households in the states of Tamil Nadu,Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, not the least because the parents now need not concern themselves with the until-now-eternal question of "which engg college to admit their wards in so that their placement into the software companies at a lesser cost will become a certainity..".

"All that is needed to get into winfosysh is that u must have an excellent academic record(35% or above in all subjects) and know the basics of how to operate a mouse and how to use a keyboard for the purpose of typing and typing only. If you have these qualities, then crackin the interview is a piece of cake!", says a newly recruited Winfosyshian.

Spurred on by this move by arch-rivals Winfosysh , Papa consultancy services is now involved with their "Anyone can become a software engineer campaign" wherin literates who know what a computer actually is are also considered for jobs that were once reserved only for Engg,Science,Arts and Litt graduates.

So is unemployement a thing of the past now???

RESULTS...

My god!! If ever there was much ado about nothing,it was wen our results got published.Since, this semester is supposed to be the last one before our placements, the profs are supposed to be tangibly lenient in giving away the grades. So wen people started saying that 'tronix everyone above 8 and stuff, the above mentioned fact i slowly started to beleive that inspite of my terrible perfomance in xams, i got above 8. And i started preparing myself by choosin wat companies to sit in and stuff, which wud depend on my CG.

But fate, is something that always renders a completely unlooked for upshot. I can quote many instances and this will increment the "many" by one. My grades hit a real low. I cud still not forget that moment, wen i stared at that evil scrap saying ur sg-7.04...my god!,what ll become of my plan?? everything will need manifest overhauling and the stage that requires me to tread on a thin rope is back to haunt me.The usual tussle with fate which i always relate to a soccer knock out match is back with a bang. For how long shud i keep fighting hese things, will i ever improve?? will i ever win a match in normal tym...wwhy is this fate always pushing me through golden goal xtra time and then onto the dreaded penalties....

This reminds of Chuck Berry s lyrics: ""C'est la vie!" say the old folks,it goes to show,"you never can tell"".

3 yrs and still counting...

Today i chanced upon a NDTV news report,in which they gave a report about the various Editors appraisal of the incumbent DPA ministers. So this as good a topic to post as anything else,i thought and here i am in front of my monitor trying to organize my random thoughts.

So here goes, my personal appraisal of the DPA and its ministers:

Three years prior to this day, i was one of the many political observers who had serious doubts on how far this alliance will go.An alliance between the political "Toms and Jerrys",they called it.There is no questioning the above fact, as an alliance between the Left and the Congress was and is not far from what was mentioned in the previous sentence. My dad, being a leftie, was fairly convinced and was pretty sure that the alliance was going to last and can and will be more efficient than the previous government. He had reason to think so, not the least because he felt ,the alliance between the capitalists and communists had saved the world from the most venumous peril that has hit the earth so far, in the form of Hitler, during WWII. Thinking the centrist way, i t would seem that my dad was inordinately harsh on the BJP by comparing them to the Nazis.Yeah! , very true.

Today my dad reminded me that his words are coming true.He said "The alliance will last and it will have a greater efficiency".Last,it will, but with greater efficiency,i have serious doubts. This is primarily because of the implementation of the 27% reservation for the OBC s in Central institutions for higher education, and the controversial SEZ policy.

VT or wud it be VeTTI

Whenever i refresh my orkut scrapbook, i always encounter a scrap which asks me as to we am i doing my VT(Vocational Training) and dat the senders VT has been nothing short of very boring. From the beginning , i ve been told by my seniors that the VT period albeit boring can be onw of the most serviceable periods in ur engg carrier.
They said:
"You can use this period for restructuring your fundamentals, prepaing for upcoing competetive xams whilst getting a handy practical experience at the company...".

I am supposed to do my VT at Bharti Airtel, india s lagest mobile servie blah! blah! from today . With some respect in mind for AirTel , i ve planned a wealth of things .Hope! my plans become succesful.

HEARTBREAK!

Yes! , i am referring to United s defeat in the hands of Chelsea in the FA cup final today.Defeats pain. And a defeat after fighting hard till the very end incurrs an incurable excruciating pain. This past season Utd have been giving a lot of this "difficult-to-digest" pills.Twice against Arsenal and once 2day to name a few.

The first half didnt have anything noteworthy, and it was textbook cup final types. The second half had chances for both sides.Especially united were able to get their rhythym rite but Essien played uniteds villain on more than one occasion.Roone, for reasons unknown couldnot get his act together when the team really needed him the most.Giggsy had a goal disallowed in my view.(and that esteryears Giggs wud hae finished the same ball in an astounding manner is a differnt issue).

The extratime was a joy to watch until the nefarious 25th min came.United were going full throttle and squandered a decent amount of chances.Little did these players know, that they ll wistfully want those moment back. When Drogba struck the goal i was still hoping for a miracle to happen. But united never looked like scoring, all their earlier charm, their aggression seemed to have evaporated. The last five mins chelsea kept it tight and did what they do best.

Taking the match as a precurso to the next season, there are se serious problems to be addressed.
1. Utd need a more influential striker.Berbatov or torres or someone lyk dat.
2.Giigsy shud be replaced.Ribery would be a good inclusion.

The rest seem to be in place for united.

Hard luck United...and until next season..

The aftermath,i thought,it would be...

After Team India s dramatic exit from the World cup 2007 , i thought the cricket craze in the egion would subside and the TV channels would give in their wont of aeonian telecasting of cricket programs .The craze did subside but theTV channels are telecasting even more cricket than even before. The usual respite ,that i get between two interminable cricket programs, also seems to have shrunk. To whichever sport channel i tune in to,i either see an Ex-Indian cricketer praising a 255 ball gavaskar century or India battering the Zimbabwean might in a 2001 series.I dispensed with all the ideas that i had for that afternoon and went about brwsing various channels.

Today while browsing thro various channels in search of some football,i deemed myself fortunate as i ploughed on a "DD Spots football update".Unable to conceal my excitement, at the prospect of watching something related to football in DD , i increased the volume. The report was supposed to update people about Korean footballer Park Ji sung s move to Manchester United and also Asier Del Horno s move to chelsea.

Park has now completed three full seasons at United and Asier Del Horno has left Chelsea for Valencia. And the update couldnt have come at a better tym, i thought and switched the TV off and went off to sleep.

Seriously, these Sport channels must have some mercy on other sport enthusiasts.

Well i think i am back...

After a not so brief hiatus,Vishwa is back to blogging ways. And this has more to do with acheiving personal ends than any other pass time "bulla" i usually give.

In the past week, i beat my own personal record for the number of books completel read in a week category.I reached a personal best of three. The reason, a short holiday and the ennui that Tata Allapey trips result in when you are all alone. The list of books that i completed included Delhi by Kushwanth Singh, Nick Mason s PINK FLOYD inside out and Goalkeepers are crazy a football stories collection collected and compiled by Brian Glanville.

Of the three books that i read last week, Delhi stuck out as my personal favourite, not the least because it had history of delhi embedded in it.Any history enthusiast in this country will always be enamored by the history of Delhi,i am no different, more so because i think i am the greatest patron of the fact that Delhi is second only to London in richness of history.

Narrating the history of Delhi from the times of Nadir Shah to his time, through the eyes of Mr.Singh a historian, a part time guide woking with the embassy,Kushwant Singh easily makes strong inroads into the mind of the history hungry reader. The "riveting wit" which invariably accompanies many Kushwant Singh's books and articles forms an integral part of this book.Alternating between fiction and fact the book also gives a unclouded account of the present day Delhiites. His account arguing for both sides of the coin on serious moot points does not leave any space for serious controversies. Especially the one which alleges a builder to be a boot licker of the English has been well executed.

A thoroughly enjoyable read if you are an history enthusiast.
