BOOKS 2006.

The year 2006 marked my highest growth in Litreary litreacy..or i have been deceived into thinking lyk dat.Although i hated to concede to the fact that i am an Amatuer reader,my choice of books was really naive.I was lyk a radio which cud tuned to a deired frequency. So if ppl go gaga abt some author,i ll be among the firsts to procure a copy of dat book without digging deep into what wud suit my taste. Moreover my reading habits , b4 this year were actually a part of preparations for higher competetive exams. So tat more or less, took the lyf dat reading habit wud have instilled.....
But miracles do happen.I changed my attitude towards books, and reading books became more of a pleasure giver than a regular had-to read-to-crack-cat types...

So here are the pick of the chunk in 2006.

1984 by GEORGE ORWELL

This has been and will be one of the greatest novels ever written,in my personal view. This depicts in front of ur eyes wat one calls an Orwellian form of governments and the effects it has on the people. It was also more, like a prediction of how 1984 would be in 1948.Winston,the main charecter in this book, tries to fight the opressive world around him where even thoughts against the governments wud send you to the deepest of hells.

"TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD" by HARPER LEE

Not for nothing did this book get the coveted pulitzier prize. This is a absolute masterpiece. This is something of a classic american novels. In this Harper lee tries to tell the story of a local attorney trying to defend a "coloured" felon charged with rape and attempt to murder against the society which is completley against it.It is filled wid subtle humour and beautiful things which emerge from a child s inference abt coplex issues.Atticus Finch the leading charecter in the novel has entered into the books of ppl who often need an example of a good man.A splendid read.

IDLE THOUGHTS OF AN IDLE FELLOW by
JEROME K JEROME

The name of the book more or less sums up this review. It s not a novel exactly,it is just a bunch of essays, whose contents are more or less comparable to ur daily lyf,if you are a genuine idler. It is packed wid humour which is a Jerome K Jerome charecteristic.
His riveting wit(if i may say so) catches u off gaurd more often than very often.

Others worth a mention

ICON by Fredric Forsyth

A Prison Diary by Archer

Footer Part-II

The first part contained my feelings abt the world cup.Now this entry is more less an EPL related one.For as long as 2 years,i wanted Man Utd(My fav club) on the top of the table. It never really happened. What ppl said was something of a MAN U-is gone-and Chelsea-is-the team- kind.
In fact in August it appeared like dat.The premierships big spenders had strengthend their arsenal wid the lyks of Andiry Shevchencko(one of my fav strikers),Micheal Ballack,Ashley Cole and many others.
As for Man Utd the transfer window was more of an out goers one than the incoming one,the signed budding England Midfeilder Micheal Carrick for a whopping 18 mil and sold their Goal machine Ruud van Nistelrooy, and the vaccum left by his departure was not filled. So b4 even the seaso started ,i cud hear strange shouts asking where are ManU s goals gonna cum from.Time wud be the answer i thought.
And it was.A Frenchman named Louis Saha stepped up to the occasion to replace R v N,only to score the opening goal for ManU in that season and thereby revive his goal scoring touch, dat was established at Fulham b4 he moved to Man U.He was continously on the scoresheet and proved pundits wrong by being more than equal to Ruud van who???
Chelsea had their teething problems , wid Sheva trying to adopt to the English style of game and failing many a time.Their very second match ended in an agonizing defeat. From dat tym on
Jose Mourinho must have known English Football is never the same every year and Man U are no push overs.Man U steadily gained Strength and Elegance to end the year on a high note.Finishing 6 pts clear at the top of the table, wid Chelsea s hopes of retaining the title all but over.
I am mentioning here only abt Chelsea and Man U...wat happend to the others,u may wonder...They are simply outta Man U s wa y and are way behind,to say the least.Arsenal lost ground due to the absence of Thierry Henry and lack of xperience in the side.Liverpool,i dont have a say, bcos i dontt think they are even worth a say...
So as i am hoping dat Man U will regain the title,i am just putting forth some ket pts in Eu soccer 2006.
  • The Old lady of Italian Football,Juventus or Bianconeri were relagated to Serie B due to their involvement in Match fixing and handpickin referees issue.Inter were given the scudetto while AC Milan were docked pts , although the FA allowed them to play in the Champions league and saty in Serie A.
  • Real Madrid s perfomances are no better than their earlier perfomances.Despite having taken advantage of the crisis situation in Juventus.
  • Just by the look of it,it appears that there is no team in the French league dat cud catch Lyon. They are defending their title for the tenth consecutive tym and sitting pretty at the toppa the table.
  • Crazy things happened this yea in the champs league as Man U and Benfica were drawn together agian, and so were Chelsea and Barcelona.

The Week that it was!!!

Come december there is alwways something happening in chennai....

Last year it was the Champions trophy Hockey of which India was a part..and the difficult part to digest was that india finished last in that.I was there to view those "hard to digest" moments.

This year it was the CIFF(Chennai International Film Festival).

A wonderful week awaited by all movie enthusiasts in the city.It was scheduled to happen from 16-22 Dec and it did happen as scheduled except that i cudnt make it to that fest frm 16th to 19th because of my Hyderabad trip.!!!

So on the 19th, the greatest movie enthusiast in the world(at least in Chennai,ok!! at least in my street,ok !! at least in my house..come on!!) me,got myself ready to jus have a ride thro all those movies that were supposed to be screened. As many as 100 movies were screened in three screens(WOODLANDS,WOODLANDS SYMPHONY,and the FILM CHAMBER).

Albeit the mediocre nature of the screens barring the last one, which was exceptional(probably bec thats were celebs watch movie previews!!) they had raised their stds for the occasion.I was able to watch some 10 movies or so completely and was able to get the glimpse of some two three. That was a wonderful experience besides appearing on the TV(DD) to offer my valuable comments abt a movie AMRITHADHARE(Kannada) which i personally considered "FUK ALL!!!"

The things that fascinated me the most were

The no of quality cinema viewers in Chennai.man!! they are a lot.

A ful house is not wat u d expect if u go for somethin lyk this in Chennai. But it was otherwise and i was amused at the number of fellow movie enthusiasts in Chennai.

The shameless directors and their assistants who came all the way to that place ,to see

if they cud steal an idea or two for their movies. And the manner in which they conceded it.

and

The indefatigable spirit of the D D team...who were there throout the fest...waiting witha camera and microphone.

KUDOS CIFF for such an attempt.

AAnd frm now on, no matter wat happens to me, I ll try to be their fer CIFF.

cheers

NO MORE BUDDHA ONLY FOOTBALL

A passionate soccerphile me(wannabe???!!!) decided to take a ride at a book on my favourite sport and my most passionate thing on earth.Unsure of which one to start with and without any previous consultations or suggestions,i jus picked one of the lot.The title of the book read "NO MORE BUDDHA ONLY FOOTBALL" and authored by Chris England.

So an unknown of book by a seemingly unknown of author will be the last thing with which u wanna spend ur holidayzz wid..Ok i thought...it wud be worth a try..i picked it up!!!

Just by the looks i was able to judge that it was about football and more importantly about FIFA WORLD CUP 2002.... This was a WC dat i wasnt able to view fully owing to skool pressures and the exit of big guns and of all the teams GERMANY found their way to the finals...So there we go into the book...i was off and running. And i was hooked on to it like a football to the legs of Ronaldinho.

This is basically the dairy entries of Chris ENgland during his visit to JAPAN for offering his EXPERT comments(yeah!!) to a radio programming in talkSPORT.He gets tickets to all the England matches and ekes out tickets fer some matches from here and there for some other matches. To my dissappointment the book was more of a tourist s wxperience than a WC review

containing less football than i expected. But the humour and riveting wit kept me going.

An English him,was naturally pushing England fer the world cup and has coverd those matches

expertly and offers comments in the same way any Indian wud have offered for a cricket match

having India as a playing side. His coverage is more pro-English is wat i personally feel..

and they are,if anything to go by..only one part of the story. His hate fo the premier clubs in ENGLAND in fact convinces me intoo not supporting any of the English clubs.

His experiences in Japan...man!!! the are jus too cool...but my concentration on the footballing part has cut my words short about the other part of the book.

ok! enough talk!!

i am quoting few of the lines in this book that i found really impressive.

  • After quoting a poem written by the Korean ruling party leader he coments

"IMAGINE TONY BLAIR WRITING A POEM ABOUT ENGLAND BEATING GERMANY IN MUNICH-HE D NEVER BE ABLE TO SHOW HIS FACE AT ST JAMES PARK"

  • In England vs Brazil quarter final brazil win a free-kick in a dangerous area,then..

"RIVALDO,ROBERTO CARLOS AND RONALDINHO STAND OVER THE BALL,AND YOU WOULDNT WANT ANYONE OF THEM TO TKAE IT.DOESEN'T LUCIO FANCY A GO???"

and there are several other lines that captur ur heart right away!!!

A book,a comical one worth a try fer any soccerphile...

Johnny English!!

Watching this movie was one of my long term desires...cudnt watch it due to unavoidable circumstances, finaly i allocated spl time fer this: the moment i knew it was gonna premier on
STAR MOVIES.
Rowan Atkinson!!!the mere mention of this name is like a garranty fer a fun filled 2 hrs are so...
I was expecting nothing less...although the movie was a little disappointing towards the end,the usual " SCREW logic fer a comedy" thumb rule mus be applied ter get everythin outta the movie.
The movie starts wid the restoration of stolen jewels beongin to the Royal famiy by a certain agent one or sumone...that agent dies and in his funeral all other agents who were his direct sub ordinates die due to one moment of briliance by Johnny English,an agent himself..
So, since he is the only one left ,the govenment has little choice but to assign him the job of protectnig the jewels which are to be handed over to the quenn at a dinner organised by a French magnate. But mysteriously the jewels vanish and the case of finding them is assigned to Johnny. His pursuits ter find out the thief is the rest of the story....
Rowan Atkinson acting!!!man i am at loss of words to xplain abt it...the scene in which he describes the facial features of the "wud have been " intruder speaks volumes abt the way that guy has been acting....the end is not as impressive as the beginnings, where u ll invariably laugh
by the minute elapsed. And that fella who comes as his sidekick Ben miller has done a good job.
In all it was a fun filled two hrs(although less than what i had expected)

A FEW GOOD MEN

NEVER get fooled by the title is sumthin nthat i ve always learnt in my years of movie watching....so by the name all i cud gather is that it is sumthing abt a bunch of ppl who r good....
but at the end of the movie...u ll be damn sure that there are a few good men...but who all???

COLOMBIA PICTURES
A FEW GOOD MEN
paints the picture of the illegal code of conduct that is prevalent in the US defense forces and the effects it can have.Boasting a galaxy of stars it doesnt disappoint by one bit....
The movie has Tom cruise,Demi moore in the lead and Jack Nicholson(jus overthrew Al pacino as my fav actor). It al starts when a marine is about to be harmed by two other marines..As it later turns out,the victim dies and the two marines face the song but they claim that they just followed orders and it was not bcos of any personal reasons.Tom is a lawyer from harward working with the Navy and is being selected by the Navy to represent both of those marines.Demi moore also is seriously intrested in this case so much that she joins hands wid tom to free the marines. The ordes were not regular orders but a military code of discipline which is completely illlegal but is still followed just for the sake of discipline. So the marines find them in deep shit bcos the navy denies any knowledge of giving any direct orders. Now it is a question of whether Tom will win the case and make public the crazy code that these ppl follow..that is for the viewer to watch.
Although Tom and Moore occupy most of the screen time it is Jack Nicholson who steals the show with vintage perfomances. His perfomance in the climax can be compared with Al Pacino s one in Scet of a woman..what an actor!!! the dialogues were excelent, any wannabe defensee wud luv these dialogues(particularly of Jacks)
As mentioned earlier i am still not thro with who the good men in this movie really are.For me it was Jack and his bunch of marines who follow the code and seve it wid pride. My dad thought it was Tom and the gang..wateva it is worth every second that u r gonna spend on it..

so i call mom up and tell wat dad wanted of her...
she then asked me to call granny and say that she cud not cum but dat i will get her the books tha she promised she d give....
..now call GRANNY..wat s dat....i thought granny s house does not have a fone..."
"no she s gotta cell..call her on dat...."

TODAY'S TRIVIA

An avid soccer follower, that i am,have decided to put in tid-bits of soccer trivia amongst others everyday
TODAY'S TRIVIA:
We all know Paolo Rossi, the incredible man who changed from zero to hero in a single tounnament, helping Italy to win their third world cup is the only person in the world to grab all four of football's top honours in the yr 1982...

1.Golden Boot
2.Golden Ball
3.World playr of the yr
4.European Player of the yr

Penalty shootouts were introduced in the world cups for the first time in 1978,and it had to w8 for 4 more yrs to eliminate someone...and the someone was France, who went down against Germany,in an Epic-semi final against West Germany....

AKKARE YAKKARE YAKKARE

My dad has always been a constant patron of Malayalam and Bengali movies...he always used to say,our tamil cinema industry has a lot to learn from these cine industriews by way of stories and screenplays..for he always beleived technically Tamil
cine industry was superior to all other southern based cine industry...
So there i was, geared up to witness wat the Mallloos had to offer me...until then, they didnt offer me anythiing but terrible boredom,an experience equal to watching a STRIP TEASE(NELS_N r u reading this) and not to mention the cd of this movie!!!
i had a choice to make,my first maloo one wud be either of chitram(a supposedly emotional one) and Akkare...(a comedy one)...i chose the latter, and i really wanted to discover wat cud be the thing that forms the bedrock of malloo humour(which is often dry(by dry i mean it is "as dry as THE SAHARAS in the summers")
This movie is suppposed to be a sequel to a movie(PATTANA PRAVESHAM)...havin seen the Tamil version of this movie(KADHANAAYAGAN starring Pandiarajan and S Ve Shekhar) many times,i went into this movie with high hopes...
This movie starts with a crown getting stolen at the Madras Musuem, and The commisioner of police(dunno his name but i rem seein him many tyms in Asianet) gets the Pathbreaking clue that mite solve the case, that it was stolen by a Paul Barber(ya u heard it right) and he has left to the U S and all they have of him is a torn piece of cloth from his shirt and his bloodstains in the fence...they say it has cast a scar on his back.meanwhile the crown somehow makes it way to a house(coincidentally a maloo) in NY while someone tried to steal it from Barber himself...
so the commisioner of police(who accidently is a Maloo) turns to the gr8est CID combo in India Ramadass(Mohan LAL) and Vijayan(Srinivaasan!! unarguably the best actor in the movie) who also are maloos(wat a maloo bias)!!!so they start invading ur stomach rite frm their intro scene..initially while being presented the matter Ramadas does not want vijayan to accompany him but he later succumbs to the oldest trick in the deceiver's manual!!!(the tactic..my gaaad!! got me stifled and strangled for want of air..i cant but continue laughing...(the "adikum".."sahikum" dialogues i meant))..
so they leave to America and are suposed meet with an Indian Embassy official(Malloo again) to get themselves accomodated and for the finances(5 lac indian rupees)...
there they decide that they have done enough justice to their job and it s tym to enjoy life...so they spend the 5 lacs...meanwhile the commisioner of police gets himself screwed for sending these dumbos to america and makin the government to incur a loss of 5 lacs..so he ispoised to kill duo...at precisely the same tym,a deadly misconception and misinterpration makes the CID s to think the Embassy guy is paul barber....their vain attemts to prove it rite..(the one especially as negroes,my god!!!that was just toooo good!!)in comedy movies, there is prone to be a whole lot of misinterprations and the villain thinks another diff mallo pair as CIDs and runs from them...so after all this mess, the CID duo get the crown finaaly....how??!! tahts for u to figure out...
the movie s screenplay is good and Srinivasan is my best actor in the movie....y are the villains in comedy movies always stoopid??i wonder and the the confusion in airport, man that was a little boring and i feel the first part (pattana..) one is better...anywayzz,that was a superb experience...
After i was finshed with the movie, there was a sense of disappointment, not because of the movie but because of the fact that i cudnt quite comprehend wat formed the bedrock maloo humour, even after watching the movie...
cheers ppl!!

FIFA 2007

"EA SPORTS" It s in a game....
The above sounds wud be music to ur ears,if ur about to play one of ur eagerly awaited EA sports games....
As Soccer is my favourite sport, there can only be little doubt in which one wud be my favourite EA sports game...It has always been the FIFA series...although,they tried with their games of UEFA champions leagues and World Cups,i always kept myself away from them...
the moment,AUDI(one of my juniors) let his mouth go saying that he has got the game s dvd,i cant but not wait to start...i got the disc and i installed the game and started playing the game right away...!!!!before going into this game,AUDI warned me abt the toughness of the game and in his words the game "SUCKED"...but never have i left a version of FIFA untried(wonder if theres a word like this) since FIFA '99...so i wud try this,no matter what i thought...
The game started without even the slightest hitch(phew!!!,the biggest head ache in the world)....so here the Architecture is very similar to FIFA 06...ur asked to create ur own profile and u ll get points based on ur perfomance it says...
more points means more stuff can unlocked...
so a profile created and there i was about to start my first game...in every version of FIFA(xcept 99) that i ve played, the first match neva changed..
MANCHESTER UNITED vs ARSENAl..
and so it was,i was on MAN U 's side and the default difficulty level was semi-pro...the match ended 3-2 in favour of the red devils....i feel the graphics of 06 is better than the present version of FIFA,given that i always run FIFA games in my comp on low graphics mode...The gameplay has become real tough, now with the limited no of keys ur expected to control ball spin also, even while crossing,so it is real tough...the ball does not reach the header if u cross,as soon as u croos the control is transferred to the nearest player to the ball, and he has to fight it out with the defender to score, this was the toughest part for me....
player likeliness, squads and ratings(ITALY,CLASSIC XI and WORLD XI r the only teams with 5 star ratings),r really similar to that of FIFA 06...the gameplay is a bit slow which makes it more realistic(this is smthing that i really like) and ....
so AUDI i am sorry, the game doesnt suck in my view,it is equal to if not better than its earlier version....
k thats it for now...i gotta play penalty shootouts with raj...
cheers

HYDERABAD BLUES!!!

Another long term wish came true....This movie has been evading me,ever since i wanted to watch this movie...finally,i procured the movie without much difiiculty, and i played the movie rite away!!!....
I ve always been attracted by Desi movies made in English....but i never really got to see many(like dere are a lot)...from wat i heard Mr and Mrs Iyer by rahul bos e and the hyderabad blues were rated the best ones...having seen the first one...i really was looking fwd to this one..this one didnt disappoint even by a bit....
The story now..
Varun(Nagesh Kukunoor) is returning back to his hometown(HYD) from the states after a long period of 12 yrs....he is 28 yrs old and his parents want him to get married,as he s ageing....one of his frnds(harish) is married and the other one(Sanjeev) is abut to get married...but Varun doesnt seem to be really interested about the Indian way of marraiges, and also starts to sound like a sceptic who was born to find faults wid the indian system..it starts from the no of calories in food to choosin a girl 2 marry...(i guess ppl who live away from home, get affected by this syndrome, when going back home...)
He accompanies Sanjeev who is on the lookout for his life partner,to the traditional bride seeing day..(only god knows if it has a word in english!!)
there he gets really curious about a female, who comes and serves tea and happens to be a close frnd of the bride and a doctor,by profession....
Sanjeev gets married and after that Varun is introduced to that female named Ashwini, only to find out that she is an all out hater of americanisation....slowly they fall in love woth each other and caste takes the form of the villain keeping the m from gettin married, meanwhile his mom has many a unsuccesful effort to pin him up wid some girl or other...so as u might guess, they eventualy get married but how..that s for u to see...
i personaly felt the climax was really weak and lacked in logic in comparison with the other parts of the movie, which were really a reflection of the intricacies of the Indian lyf,and wat Americanization can do to u...
It was an excellent experience ,a diff one perhaps...i kno a bucketfull of movies which used the same concept of "the operator AMERICANIZATION on INDIAN CULTURE CURRY"...wat those movie didnt potray or show well, this movie has explicitly pointed out, important one being
the adjective "Working in a America" is no longer enough to woo girls in India, for they r more bonded to culture than anything else...

DON!!!!

curse me ppl....being an indian,i am really ashamed to say,i ve not watched any of Amitabh s greaterst hits....every time it was my Hindi dat acted as a hindrance...
naturally,i didnt watch the original one...so i went to this movie wid a head start..ya!!!i can njoi the movie thoroughly,i thought...
wen u think that something will go this way but that thing completely goes the other way, u can feel the devil bite ur arse!!!
ya!!!dat happend to me as soon as the movie started...i xcpected the movie to be a racy entertainer, but that movie was a complete depreesing tablet(at least in the beginning)...heaven help me i thought....
the role of DON clearly didnt suit Shahrukh(at least, dat was as i xpected)...
it is no remake..it is a movie spoof,i d say....
the first half made me sleep(my profs wud have taken jus abt the same time to put me to sleep!!)
well..now lemme go into the movie...DON is as his name suggests working for one of the two kingpins in the smuggling industry!!,named singhania(the latter is Wardhaan)...only god knows y they introduced a soviet background for this bullshit!!!
he looks after his boss s op s in Malaysia...the police are close on his heels, one De Silva who always wants to catch him...
circumstances make the real DON die,and this bcoms a secret known only to De silva,a doc a nurse and his look alike Vijay, who promised to impersonate DON,and penetrate the gang to provide high level Intel,as De silva promises that he d provide education for a kid that vijay ws bringin up till then...meanwhile a prisoner with a vengance against de silva is released, and is poised to kill de silva
huh!!!! intresting aint it..????
they have scripted the movie mostly on foreign soil....(really sorry Mr.Farhan Akthar, for that fails to impress...)..the songs are gud,and they cum to the rite place at the wrong tym....yeh mere dil,and pan benares waalah, were in a very hypothetical backdrop./...
the end is very diff frm the original one...the end deserves accolades, but the screenplay is na dat supportive...
kudos for cameras and stunts, which were the two things i liked abt the movie, and the end,it actually makes u sit straight....

DON...GONE....

The RUNNER who told of victory...

PPL PPl PPl...
b4 u think of anything else,i d like put forth something...

there are ceratin thing dat u do not want to reveal..but u cudnt but reveal them...i am talking about the power situation in my coll....we have had power xactly for two hrs a day in the summers..the remainng tym,we either sweat and grope or we curse ....
it seemed one of theose curses went and actually reached the power ppl,so they bcame even more stingy w.r.t power distribution...
now, there are certain things which u badly wanna reveal, but it is not rie to reveal 'em...btw i am not the righteous one am i??!!!
the power situation in my college one of my pals(***SON),really angry..by the word angry,i mean real angry...the usual run of the mill guy, that i am,tried to make himunderstand that everything has an happy ending and this story is no xception...
well, that was a tym,wen M.Hayden lost his bet, which was to run naked around the ground if Gillispie scores a double century...so in an impulsive moment, and also banking on the incorrigible behaviour of the elc.board more than anything,***SON made a statement, which wud bcom his fate changer....
"I WILL RUN NAKED AROUND THE COLL GROUND IF THE POWER CONTINOUSLY STAYS FOR 24 CONTINOUS HRS!!!"
and so it stood...every tym the power went nelson used to say...
"DUDE!!! THEREIS NO HOPE FOR U....BRING DAT DAY ON! I BADLY WANNA RUN NAKED...",and dat i must dothe running if it doesnt...i was scared todeath at the thought me running around the ground...let alone running naked...!!!
little did nelson know dat hope, which is the best thing in life, neva fades....
the day did finally arrive dat came a little later...but it does not matter wen they come or how they come,it came...much for the pleasure f the writer...
so now it bcame a qn of honouring the bet.....the stage was set and the lens ready....***son started and he ran and proved he s an hoourable man, therby givin me the mostmemorable nite of my lyf .....
BRAVO ***SON..!!
just as i said do notlose hope....hope is a gud thing may be the best of things and no gud thing ever dies....

huh!!!!...yeah finally i am busy....

I am very fond of the words "last push!!"....r rather i can be better understood if u can clearly comprehend wat the above phrase....
ppl often speak of me as...
"he is the only person on earth who supports MANU for the only reason that they have won matches scoring at the end..."
welll!!lemme see....ya i like MANU for that reason more than anything else and nywayzzz the reason for me to always give a last push...is precisely because i am a late starter and a slow learner....
so i ve learnt the trick and am off finally to compete in the race....my fellow peers are abot 200m away from me...i d rather not talk about them...
i ve now somethin to keep me occupied and i am always havin something to learn....so now i am satisfied and really convinced that i am well on course to repeat the stunt that i always pull at the end...
ok!!!the above talk was trash,abd i kno that worthless babble,was more of a Hubris than anything....but newayzzz,i jus wanna pen down,wat i really feel,and i did...
s cheers and hail MANU and MOSKVA(for their latest stunt against arsenal, doubling my beleif that it is impossiblr to beat the russians in russia).....

Almost Famous.....

well,i had no idea abt the concept of the movie, wen i started downloading this one....only later, did i find out, that this one is based on rock bands....

oh!!!did i commit a mistake or did i,commit a mistake...i ve downloaded a movie belongin to a genre, that i swore i wont see....anywayzz i had to watxch the movie, for one,i downloaded it,and the second it won the oscar for best screenplay that year...
seriously,that didnt at all disappoint....
i wont say it s an excellent movie, but it was a 'not bad at all' movie....
the movie revolves around a 15 yr old, wanting to become a rock and roll critic....
the amount of knowledge u get abt bands, after the movie is as good a reason as anything else, why i wud recommend ppl to watch that movie....
the movie starts wid that kid, getting along wid a fictious band "still water"....
and he also gets an oppurtunity to write abt that band in thr 'Rolling Stone' magazine, but the band s lead singer is always suspicious abt him,and wants to keep him out of all in Band matters, but others take him for a part of the band, but wat they diont realise is the kid is gonna be Honest and not at all compassionate....
so hell breaks loose, wen this kid takes the story written candidly,to the magazine
editors and the band shrug everythung that the boy had written false....
screenplay,i xpected a lot more from themovie...but in all, this movie made me become more intrested in all these band related movies....

Are my holidayss really over????

as i write this,i can see curtains fall on the picture of "et another holiday" in my mind...
10 full dayss wasted, and now goin to waste another 2 months...i wonder, wer this one s gonna lead...again i ve devised(ya again!!!) plans 2 make my hostel tym as useful as possible.,hope they work out..
my dad always asks me wat r ur plans for these holidayzz,as soon as i tell him ovr the phone dat i am gonna book tickets for coming home...and i alwayzz don disappoint him,in dat aspect...i ve alwayzz managd to give a reason or two...
this tym it was preparation for MOCK CAT 's..dats as good a reason as anything else,i reasoned...
but my dad seemed to hae definite plans for me....he assigne me the job of watching "so and so" movies ad "so and so" books, which he was sure, wud atleast wont hinder my preps....
but because it was given by my dad,my passions of reading and watching movies became a excruciating pain on the neck....
but i have this habit f obeyin my dad,and i really did(my plans in dustbin) and i am now am w8in to face the MOCK CAT s and am all set to prove him wrong...and tell him that his methods are really outdated r it wont suit my style of preps...
nothing goes useless in this world;so i am gonna have to keep quiet, and prove the above sentence rite...lets c..while i eep hopin...

wasting quality tym.....

aimless, careless, clueless are a few less'es dat will aid the noun "Vishwa"

i cudnt but disappoint the person who coined the above sentence(my DAD:))...another holiday spannig 10 days wasted, and in that,i more or less did nothing except downloading two movies besides watching a whole lot....
ya..now i remember;freaking out for no particuar reason wid ma frnd prasanna, was like a hobby;but this time it took a new dimension,we freaked out a lot and we had a reason....we were in pursuit of a girl that he fell in love with at first sight, and we were devising audicious plans to somehow start a conversation....
i used my brain after a really long tym(which wasnt of any use for anyone, nywayzz),and suggested sum ideas, which, nevertheless ended as a flopshow...
finally he fought his way thro, and against all odds to just introduce himself....i still am laughin abt the mere thought...BRAVO!!! PRASANNA T L u jus succeded in making me waste my quality tym,in a way dat i never imagined...
cheers!

Pat(on th back!!)ch Adam(ant!!)s!!!!

"we saw an awesoe movie 2day..."xclaimed Maddy,a frnd of mine....
.A guy who s the biggest wannabe movie geek(me,of cse,who else cud dat be????),quizzed
which one "Patch Adams"....
well...i kno abt ur awesome and god-level movies,i thought...but wen reviews frm viewers having wide spectrum of tastes, also had reasons to appreciate the movie,i decide it s about time i watched the movie....
so having copied the movie frm mt frnds comp immediatly,i neva really got to see
the movie then and there....40 odd dayzz of mixed emotions elapsed, after i procured the movie and finally sat to watch the movie...
in the middle of the nite,i started watching....
it starts by saying,it s an original story so i also get myself a face wash(boiographies r otherwise morose and boring,i suppose)...but it was different and in a way yes AWESOME....
Robin williams proved his mettle, donning the role of Hunter 'Patch' Adams....
he s xpressions start hitting ur gut, from the moment "i don give rat s a@#$" flows out of his mouth, the welcome for the gyeanocologists....i wonder, what Hunter patch really said!!!
not only did his ways of treating ppl, touch me,his adamant behaviour and reluctance to change stand firm in my mind.....he wants the entire medical system to be changed instead....
i am no analyzer of patients, but i personally am for,the patch s style of treatment....and the movie really does convince me,nd seals the thought
"Ethics and proffesionalism in the correct ratio...will make u the best in ur profession,no matter what u do for ur living..." with concrete...
PAT on the back for PATCH!!!

In how many ways can u be........????

Finally, this is the moment that i ve been w8in for all these years....after four years of constant struggle during which i have always had sumthing else to master and understand,i tried to understand the intricacies of Permutations and Combinations, but in vain....and now finally the vanglorious moment has come,i ve now understood the concepts of permutation and cominations(at least thats wat i think!!!!)..an i ll be able to solve 'em problems withouthaving to remember any formulae....
the struggle dates back to the year of 2002,where i had more or less, little troublle juking those qns in the xams....in 2004 it was the greatest hitch on my way
for all competitive xams...i cried at my inability to solve problems...i mocked myself...i almost commited suicide, when i was having the same trouble again and again..
the more i studied, the worse it became, the wound in my heart i mean, infliced due to my inability t not only do,but to understand...for the past two years, even dho they werent part of my curriculum,i studied them with only heart and nothing else to aid me...
i hoped dat i d make it there and make it big one day...and yes!!! i reckon the day is not very far..nw my happiness knows no bounds,u wanna c me now???
u can see me only in air...i am flyin,i am rejoicing,i am the happiest person on earth....
well now at least i can countenanc,Hitler s carefully chosen phrases..
"Obstacles are place across he paths of one s life, not to be boggled at ,but to be surmounted"
Cheers !!!!

Der Untergang(DOWNFALL)

The watching of this movie gave me doublr pleasure..one is that i was able to complete
the movie download, after a period spanning two months,nd i was more than impressed by what i saw...(or shud i say what i felt!!!)
My first movie in German...The first movie in which i saw Hitler as a charecter...the movie starts at the peak of the war,and is as narrated by his the then secretary traudl, who was alive until 2002,but most part of the movie is on Hitler's last dayzz(the Name of the movies explicitly tells that)...the dayzz ,when his most loyal and trusted proteges and followers desert him...hose sad das in his life, where he hoped he d make it,but lot of unfortunations, that led to his UNTERGANG
i am no supporter f Hitler, but on the contary i am his ditcher, but his fastidious nature has lured mr into reading his autobiography....but y did a man who is being portrayed as brave and havig a recalcitrant nature, commit suicide....had i been Hitler i wud certainly have faced the enemy till the very end...i d alwayzz want a soldiers death..
anywayzzz as i was saying,he movie proceeds in a breackeck speed unstoppable...keepin u on ur seat,in the half of the movie b4 hitler s suicide...
after which the speed wanes away paving way for the elephantine paced screenplay ..now,that was a part that i didnt like...
kudos to the director for cutting down th scenes which wud have promised more blood, had there been any other director(i cant imagine tarentino there...lol..)..
in all it was?(is) a fantastic effort...

KILL BILL....

well i have always been under the impression that watchin movies,to jus get entertainedwould leave u nowhere...so decided for a movie of one of my fav director Quentin tarentino...he has proved again dat he is one of the "very very" different directors, who certainly have sumthing differnt in their movies....i suppose,he is in th leagues of the hitchcocks, the kurosowas,nd the kubricks....
i had alwayzz wanted to watch this movie but time wasnt on my side then...so i started nd the movie sarted nd the song "bing bong.."(wateva) still is in my ears.... although a run of the mill, revenge story(i am moe used to these kinda movies, becuse of the impact of tamil cinema were 4 outta 10 movies follow dis pattern),kill bill has its tarentino touches...the non linear screenplay for example..ppl who start undersanding tarentino movies as the roll by on the screen, wud be my geniuses of the day.......
the incongruity of killing ppl in such a cruel fashion, makes us think that it is very illogical nd sanguinary...but folks,we are watching a movie, wer everything is artificial,so better dont ask logical qns..."Shut the f**$ up..!!!"..
the amazing speed iwith which the movie progesses, got me glued to the screen...
the only part that iritated me was the part wer uma thurman encounters the body gaurds...i suppose, the stunt was an unnecessary scene nd dragged too long without ny necessty...nd regarding the rest, two things came to my mind, wen the name "KILL BILL" was mentioned earlier..."tarentino and blood"..
now it s three things.."quentin","revenge is best we served cold" nd "more blood"..
cheers!!!

Post MID SEM chennai...

i got myself a well earned break, after a week of tiring xams, which got the better of me(again huh!!!)...my start was marked by sweet news reaching my ears...it said the train wud be late by an hour or two due to rains in kolkata....my reaction was a flat face nd neat smile, for i cud not do any better....
the journey or was it waste of time, again got the better of me....i reached chennai
in the early hrs of the day,so dat i shall waste one full day...the climate was more compassionate this time, the sun occasionally peeping out of the clouds...a 'vroom' sounding ride on the bike, suggested that chennai has not changed much...except now,i cud see the black and maroon everywhere reminding me again of the results of the may '06 elections.....
an afternoon nap, became more of an habit after xams,so came back home much for the irritation of my mom,who was busy with her daily chores which included watching two mega serials...i shud not disturb her, shud i????so with the internet tempoarily outta service, i had little choice but to watch those serials, which again did not change much..the same ever-un changing plot, dis tym wid even more branches....so had my first proper ome food after as many as two months...and went for a nice nap...
i peruse the funny but njoyable weather nd laughed at the thought of
the lines
"CHANGE IS THE ONLY CONSTANT IN THE WORLD"...
my evening passed faster than it had come....i went to the market donning the tempoary grocers role,i ran outta change while buying a certain vegetable...
dats wen i realised
"CHANGE IS THE ONLY CONSTANT IN THE WORLD,SO ALWAYZZ CARRY SOME WITH U WHEREVER YOU GO"..
.

Man Utd 1-Reading 1

Well,as i sat down for a cup of tea, with the TV blaring, little did i realise that my favouite wud lose its strong hold on the lead that it held for as long as two weeks....well,upsets do happen, they alwayzzz do in EPL,nd very very often in the case of red devils....
The disappointing defeat against archrivals Arsenal must have come as an eyeopener for the red devils but unfortunately it didnt at least thats wat it looked like....
United had chances to steal the points, with Kieran Richardson missing his kick in front of goal.
Gabriel Heinze lined up for the first time in over a year in a Manchester United team that showed five changes from that beaten by Arsenal.

They almost snatched an early lead as Wayne Rooney's shot on the turn proved too hot for Hahnemann to hold and Graeme Murty just got to the loose ball ahead of the prowling Richardson.

By his own admission, Rooney is yet to find his touch this season and that was evident as Ronaldo's cute pass found him in space inside the box but the England striker's underhit shot proved little trouble for Hahneman.

Hahnemann continued to give the impression he wore non-stick gloves as he spilled Ronaldo's free-kick and Ivar Ingimarsson's clearance bailed him out.

In contrast, Van der Sar's handling was clean as a whistle as he went down to clutch Ki-Hyeon's powerful low drive with Leroy Lita lurking in vain for scraps.
nited, though, always carried more menace and when Ronaldo got to the dead-ball line he fired across the face of goal with Paul Scholes just failing to make contact.

Reading, defending a 100% home record, worked like Trojans to deny United space on the flanks and the lack of width forced the visitors to try and pick their way through the middle where Reading always ensured there was congestion.

Reading went ahead soon after the restart in controversial circumstances. Referee Walton ruled Neville controlled Ki-Hyeon's cross with his upper arm, a decision replays suggested might have been harsh to say the least.

Van der Sar guessed right and got a hand to Doyle's penalty but was unable to keep it out as the Irish striker claimed his fourth goal of the season.

Reading were not content to sit on their lead and the mobility of Lita and Doyle along United's back line kept them stretched.

Richardson completely missed his kick in front of goal from Rooney's cross, and he was instantly replaced by Saha as Sir Alex Ferguson looked to give Rooney more support.

United needed something inspirational to crack Reading's resistance and they got it from Ronaldo who collected the ball wide on the left, weaved his way inside Murty and fired an angled shot across Hahnemann.

The goal changed the face of the game, and United poured forward in search of a winner, but Reading continued to defend heroically, and held out for a deserved point.

CRAP....

i ve alwayzzz regarded the idea of blogging as crap....donno y....but anywayzzz a spontaneous crapper that i am,have started to crap(blog)...so bear with me..all yo folks!!!!!
cheers
