NO MORE BUDDHA ONLY FOOTBALL

A passionate soccerphile me(wannabe???!!!) decided to take a ride at a book on my favourite sport and my most passionate thing on earth.Unsure of which one to start with and without any previous consultations or suggestions,i jus picked one of the lot.The title of the book read "NO MORE BUDDHA ONLY FOOTBALL" and authored by Chris England.

So an unknown of book by a seemingly unknown of author will be the last thing with which u wanna spend ur holidayzz wid..Ok i thought...it wud be worth a try..i picked it up!!!

Just by the looks i was able to judge that it was about football and more importantly about FIFA WORLD CUP 2002.... This was a WC dat i wasnt able to view fully owing to skool pressures and the exit of big guns and of all the teams GERMANY found their way to the finals...So there we go into the book...i was off and running. And i was hooked on to it like a football to the legs of Ronaldinho.

This is basically the dairy entries of Chris ENgland during his visit to JAPAN for offering his EXPERT comments(yeah!!) to a radio programming in talkSPORT.He gets tickets to all the England matches and ekes out tickets fer some matches from here and there for some other matches. To my dissappointment the book was more of a tourist s wxperience than a WC review

containing less football than i expected. But the humour and riveting wit kept me going.

An English him,was naturally pushing England fer the world cup and has coverd those matches

expertly and offers comments in the same way any Indian wud have offered for a cricket match

having India as a playing side. His coverage is more pro-English is wat i personally feel..

and they are,if anything to go by..only one part of the story. His hate fo the premier clubs in ENGLAND in fact convinces me intoo not supporting any of the English clubs.

His experiences in Japan...man!!! the are jus too cool...but my concentration on the footballing part has cut my words short about the other part of the book.

ok! enough talk!!

i am quoting few of the lines in this book that i found really impressive.

  • After quoting a poem written by the Korean ruling party leader he coments

"IMAGINE TONY BLAIR WRITING A POEM ABOUT ENGLAND BEATING GERMANY IN MUNICH-HE D NEVER BE ABLE TO SHOW HIS FACE AT ST JAMES PARK"

  • In England vs Brazil quarter final brazil win a free-kick in a dangerous area,then..

"RIVALDO,ROBERTO CARLOS AND RONALDINHO STAND OVER THE BALL,AND YOU WOULDNT WANT ANYONE OF THEM TO TKAE IT.DOESEN'T LUCIO FANCY A GO???"

and there are several other lines that captur ur heart right away!!!

A book,a comical one worth a try fer any soccerphile...
