Come december there is alwways something happening in chennai....
Last year it was the Champions trophy Hockey of which India was a part..and the difficult part to digest was that india finished last in that.I was there to view those "hard to digest" moments.
This year it was the CIFF(Chennai International Film Festival).
A wonderful week awaited by all movie enthusiasts in the city.It was scheduled to happen from 16-22 Dec and it did happen as scheduled except that i cudnt make it to that fest frm 16th to 19th because of my Hyderabad trip.!!!
So on the 19th, the greatest movie enthusiast in the world(at least in Chennai,ok!! at least in my street,ok !! at least in my house..come on!!) me,got myself ready to jus have a ride thro all those movies that were supposed to be screened. As many as 100 movies were screened in three screens(WOODLANDS,WOODLANDS SYMPHONY,and the FILM CHAMBER).
Albeit the mediocre nature of the screens barring the last one, which was exceptional(probably bec thats were celebs watch movie previews!!) they had raised their stds for the occasion.I was able to watch some 10 movies or so completely and was able to get the glimpse of some two three. That was a wonderful experience besides appearing on the TV(DD) to offer my valuable comments abt a movie AMRITHADHARE(Kannada) which i personally considered "FUK ALL!!!"
The things that fascinated me the most were
The no of quality cinema viewers in Chennai.man!! they are a lot.
A ful house is not wat u d expect if u go for somethin lyk this in Chennai. But it was otherwise and i was amused at the number of fellow movie enthusiasts in Chennai.
The shameless directors and their assistants who came all the way to that place ,to see
if they cud steal an idea or two for their movies. And the manner in which they conceded it.
and
The indefatigable spirit of the D D team...who were there throout the fest...waiting witha camera and microphone.
KUDOS CIFF for such an attempt.
AAnd frm now on, no matter wat happens to me, I ll try to be their fer CIFF.
cheers
